Michelle Higgins
Dance Works (view listing under Collaborations to the right):
Michelle Higgins was a dance student at the George Washington University. She was invited to perform in three projects with the Dance Construction Company. Choreography for Utah * Spirit Place * Spirit Planet * Tukuhnikivatz is constructed in such a way as to include dancers in supporting roles as spirit figures: wisdom/stiltwalkers (two), painted women/water (three), noble warrior (one), innocence/goon (one), and petroglyph/holy ghost (one), etc. Michelle was a beautiful water woman spirit figure. Nose to Cement and Other Falling Tales told on the Way Down, is a somewhat humerous work related to “falling,” something Michelle and others trained to do with grace and daring. Dance Works by International Women involved a relationship with artists from Venezuela. Michelle was selected and received an award, an honor, at GWU for her writing.
Michelle worked at The Wall Street Journal covering travel, personal finance and automobiles. She is a co-author of “The New York Times Right at Home: How to Buy, Decorate, Organize and Maintain Your Space.” Michelle served as a staff reporter and columnist for more than a decade at The New York Times, where her reporting appeared on the paper’s front page as well as in the Travel, real Estate desk as the lead reporter. She also created the Fix column, offering advice on home renovations and decor.
