Obsession & Interview FCAC-TV
1987 – Obsession: Interview and extensive footage/film of live performance about the stage work and sex as subject.
Maida Withers, on camera, intimately and deeply describes her dance work, Obsession – America’s Obsession with Sex, FCAC (Fairfax Cable Access Corporation, Fairfax, Virginia).
Obsession – America’s Obsession With Sex, is an interesting and powerful evening-length dance exploring the body inside the topic of physical/emotional human relationships of love. This interesting Interview of Maida is mixed with visually (sensual) excerpts from the documentary video of the live performance of the dance, Obsession, at Dorothy Betts Theatre, Washington, DC *. Both female and male dancers are sensual and engaging throughout the evening-length work. The final section related to the relationship of two men during AIDS, ends with massive spray of water in the air from the wings making all the dancers on stage soaking wet as they continue to move in “mourning” with sensual movements.
