Stephen Lockwood, keyboardist and composer.  Lockwood moved to Los Angeles in 1990 where he composes and performs with his own ensemble.  Prior to this, he lived in New York for eleven years where he scored music for films and several off-broadway theater productions, freelanced as a jazz pianist, and led his own ensemble.  In 1985, he toured Europe with his own ensemble and in 1988 was in he semi-final competition for the Playboy Jazz Festival.  He began to tour with Meredith Monk / The House in the U.S., Europe and Asia in 1975. He performed Monk’s “Education of a Girlchild” in 1992 at New York’s Joyce Theater and toured with Monk/The House in U.S., Europe, and Asia. 1975-84, participating in two records, “Dolman Music” and “Turtle Dreams.” He was editor, orchestrator and orchestra pianist for “ATLAS”: An Opera in Three Acts” produced by Houston Grand Opera and he participated in the European and American tours and the recording ECM Records.  He appears on these records:  Colemen Music, Turtle Dreams, and Atlas: An Opera in Three Acts, all produced by ECM records.  Lockwood’s composition, Tears/Emma in the Sky, is featured i the video, Higan Kara (From The Edge of Nirvana), Tokyo (1995)
