Nicholette Routhier is a Founding Core Ensemble Member of UpLift Physical Theatre based in San Francisco. An alum of The George Washington University, she was a Presidential Art Scholar and graduated in 2004 with a BA in Dance. In the 3 years following her graduation from GW, Nicholette worked as a DC dance artist with companies such as Deborah Rile Dance Projects, Clancyworks Dance Company, and Spontaneous Combustion with Maida Withers and Wendell Cooper. She received her MFA in Ensemble-based Physical Theatre from Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre in 2010 and worked as the School Administrator and on the Faculty at Dell’Arte until 2014. She has since toured across the US with UpLift, presenting their original devised acrobatic dance theatre performances and offering workshops to all ages in their unique highly physical theatrical style. In 2017, Nicholette spent 4 weeks in residence at the University of Dayton, devising “Enmity of the People,” an original adaptation of Ibsen’s “An Enemy of the People” as a member of UpLift, in collaboration with UD students and faculty. In the winter of 2018, she performed and offered sold out workshops as a guest artist with UpLift at KCACTF Region VII.
