Nancy Menapace
Dance Works (view listing under Collaborations to the right):
Nancy Menapace was a dance student at the George Washington University. She was invited to perform in three projects with the Dance Construction Company. Stone Ring was an unusual program featuring Maida and international “extreme vocalist” Marilia (Japan/Brazil/America), and pianist, Stephen Lockwood. The artists were at GW preparing for a tour by the artists in Tokyo, Japan. Choreography for Utah * Spirit Place * Spirit Planet * Tukuhnikivatz is constructed in such a way as to include dancers in supporting roles as spirit figures: wisdom/stiltwalkers (two), painted women/water (three), noble warrior (one), innocence/goon (one), and petroglyph/holy ghost (one), etc. Damned River was created on students by Maida on her return from Japan where the environment conference celebrated the one river in Japan that was not dammed. Nancy also performed in the Corcoran as part of the DC International Improvisation Plus+ Festival.
