Edward Akio-Taketa, born in Hawaii, began dancing at the University of Hawaii where he received a B.F.A. in dance theatre.  He moved to NYC to join the Robert Small Dance Company.  In 1983 he joined the Murray Louis Dance Company where he was a soloist.  Edward has toured nationally and internationally, performed with Off-Broadway with the New York Shakespeare Festival, and danced for television both here and abroad.  He has also performed with Janis Brenner and Peridance, with Tandy Beal in a collaboration with vocalist Bobby McFerrin, and with the Dave Brubeck Quartet in a collaboration of modern dance and jazz music throughout the United States and Europe. Edward continues to dance professionally in New York City.
