(2003)  Under the Radar (Film) Interviews (5:30)  Notes say it was published in 2006.  Perspectives on modern and post-modern dance in Russia since perestroika.  Linda Lewett, on camera with Maida Withers, guest artist/teacher at the Open Look Festival, St. Petersburg, interact with Russian dancers, choreographers, producers, and others – Russians on camera.

Under the Radar features locations such as  St. Petersburg, Arkhangelsk  and footage from Solovky Island, interviews of Daria Buzovkina, Vadim & Natalie Kasparov, Lyubov Kuzovnikova, Nikolai Schetnev, Maida Withers, and many others in Russia at this important time in Russia.  The Arkhangelsk Festivals, Touch 2 and Touch 3 with Nikolai Schetnev and Solovki Festival curated by Lyubov Kuzovnikova broadens the perspective/view.

Sasha Pepelaev, noted Russian contemporary dance choreographer/director of Swan Lake with Von Krahl Theatre of Tallinn performing at Dance Theater Workshop in New York City  along with Daria Buzovkina performing at Danspace at St. Mark’s, New York City added interest to the interviews.

Produced by Maida Withers Dance Construction Company, Under the Radar includes a short duet segment of  Withers part three – Dance of Auroras,  performed by Sasha Kukin, Russia, and Iwona Olszowska, Poland, in the Open Look St. Petersburg concert. The Dance Construction Company tour was funded by the Trust for Mutual Understanding, GWU and DCCo.  DCCo archives has only 5:30 minutes of the original half hour video.
