Dance Concert by Maida Withers, Marvin Center Theatre, included four dances and featured some dancers who were co-founding members of Maida Withers Dance Construction Company.  Admission was $2.50.  Poster design by Brook Andrews.

Bog Works Description:
Installation performance with MWDCCo and John Driscoll, electronic composer/musician/sculptor….in the open theater space of Washington Project for the Arts in the earliest location of Washington Project for the Arts on G Street, Washington, D.C.  Bog works featured an installation of unique homemade loudspeakers by John Driscoll along with flashlights hung on ropes situated as functional sculptures throughout the space.  Joh was seated in the center of the open space and the audience was seated in the center of the room with the dance and installation in the  periphery.  Dancers were also lighting designers by choosing to move the hanging battery-operated lights by swinging, rotating or focusing the light on dancers or the musician located around the space and on the elevated platform.  The work began with dancers wearing battery6 operated lights and the dancers had a loose script.  The Program lasted one hour.

Props:  5 working bleepers (extra during performance) – check police station for new model
Light Design:  Same six options – possibly flood lights or flash cubes from camera plus one sustained light from boards
House: Very dark – no isle lights – cover for all exits
Costumes:  Presently red accent or possibly white
Sound:  John Driscoll with electronics with six sound options
Dance Script: the event is 12 minutes in length with no bleeper: six lights (patterns) also appear during the 12 minute event.  The source, location, and duration of nature of the light is determined by the light designer (i.e. flashbulb, flashlights, lekos, etc).  Only one light can be sustained duration.  Dancers move about in theatre space (isles, catwalks, and enter and exit quietly).
Needs – Bleepers for newer model at police station.
Public – Scripts available at the door.  Script unnecessary for viewing the piece.
Script:  There are six dancers, five of whom are carrying bleepers and act as musicians (sound producers).  Each sound/dancer is allowed to make 6 sounds with his body.  His/her solo is completed when he is given a bleeper by another dancer or when a bleeper is available to him on the floor.

Only one of the six sounds can be of a sustained duration.  The dancer without a bleeper improvises a solo making sounds with his body.  His/her solo is completed when he is given a bleeper by another dancer or when a bleeper is available to him on the floor.

Dancers with bleepers may enter and exit the space as they choose and move through the space as freely or limited as they choose.  Dancers with bleepers may cluster.  Two musicians playing also makes six sounds during the 12 minute time span.  His pitches are related to those of the bleepers.
