Connection to Maida Withers and the Dance Construction Company:
Maida Rust Withers was born and spent her very early years with her family in Kanab, Utah.
William and Woodruff Rust, Maida’s father and grandfather, were participants in establishing early tourism in the region through the building and management in 1925 of the Kaibab Lodge, 18 miles from the spectacular North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. The early Kaibab Lodge motto: “where the deer come to see the people.” In 2025, the historic Lodge on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon was destroyed by fire. The future of the public engagement with the Grand Canyon is unknown at this time (2026).
