John Lancaster

John began his work with the Dance Construction Company in 1987, performing in Washington, DC and on tour with Ledge, in Mexico City, Mexico.. Previously John danced and choreographed in Atlanta, Georgia. John performed independently and with local companies including Lee Harper and Dancers. He studied with Maida Withers, Lucas Hoving, Phyllis Lamhut and Buffy Price and continues work on his Ph.D. in Mathematics at Georgia Tech University.
John was a deeply philosophical person and brought both physical and intellectual power to the Dance Construction Company, in general, and his many roles, especially duets with Maida.
John Lancaster performed in several earth works with Dance Construction Company. Ledge was a beautiful, extraordinary evening-length work featuring John’s gentle, yet powerful strength. John performed an extraordinary solo hanging upside down as a human in a “birthing” segment with the Company. His philosophical thoughts were appreciated by all.
