Celia Portilho
Performing Artist, Art Educator and Body Therapist. Professional training in Contemporary Dance, from the Center for Movement and Arts Studies – Angel Vianna School, RJ (1990); Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts – New Dance, from the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten – de Theaterschool – New Dance Development (SNDO – AHK), Netherlands (1996), validated by the MEC – UFRJ (2007); Master’s degree in Education – CAPES Scholarship – PPGE/UFG/GO (2014) with the dissertation: Natural Education in Rousseau: contributions to the formation of man. PhD in Cultural Performances / FCS / UFG (2020), with a CAPES scholarship for social demand; From March 2017 to April 2018, she was a visiting researcher in the Anthropology and Education Program at the Interdisciplinary Center for Historical Anthropology (Interdisziplinäres Zentrum für Historische Anthropologie) at the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany, with funding from CAPES, in the Sandwich Doctorate Abroad Program. Her doctoral thesis, “Transcorporeality and Knowledge: performative and indisciplined narratives for an epistemic decolonization,” presents itself as a manifesto, a trans-thesis, and questions the hegemony of the dogmas and paradigms of Western, patriarchal, capitalist modernity in scientific production in the fields of arts and humanities. A stage director, contemporary dance teacher, and researcher, she has worked since 1989 with an emphasis on choreographic composition, research on body language, somatic education, and educational dance in social projects in governmental and non-governmental institutions. As a choreographer, physical trainer, dancer, and actress, she has participated in theater, dance, and musical productions in Brazil and in countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Ecuador, and Japan, among others. She has also directed and produced choreographic, musical, and theatrical pieces of her own creation in various countries.
