Under the Radar in Russia (Documentary Film 10:00)

2003 – Russian dancers, producers, and choreographers talk about modern dance in Russia in the early years after the collapse of Communism (1992).  Taped during MWDCCo residency at the Open Look Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia and during a  tour in Arkhangelsk and Solovki Island, Russia.  The film features an interview with Sasha Papalaev, important Russian choreographer of  Kinetic Dance Company, one of the first modern dance companies established in Post Soviet Era Russia.  Papalaev was presenting the historic SWAN LAKE in New York City at DTW – a version of Swan Lake focused on the 24 hour siege of Swan Lake on Russian TV when the Soviet Union collapsed.
