(2014-2015) Mind Fluctuations – Rehearsals (Videos)
Rehearsals in the early stages of the development of MindFluctuations were very exploratory because there was no helmet to explore the reality of the interactrive aspects (1) brainwaves/emotions originating from the dancer/helment;  (2) brainwaves into the off-stage computer from the helmet (3) interface to projection of images onto the stage backdrop.

Once decisions were made about eleven specific cyberworlds  provided by Tania Fraga, the content derived from the cyberworld, and subsequent casting of performers for rehearsals, general content of each section became more clearly defined. Casting and rehearsals focused on specific content.  There would be eleven sections in the choreography – each with specific content.  Dance Construction Company dancers were, of course, participating in decisions with the director about the choreography, but the concept/content of each cyberworld dominated exploration and our creative process.

“My preference is to work with dancers who have special awareness and creativity related to dance choreography and performance –  dancers who contribute something special in their body performance and choices – the collaboration process required.   Rehearsals are very different from performance in various stages of creation. The environment in rehearsals often allows the dancer to feel more at ease and his/her performance may appear more natural than in performance.  In rehearsal, dancers interact with each other, talking/laughing, sometimes very free.  Each dancer and dance, of course, may be quite different in that regard.”  Maida Withers

Mind Fluctuations – eleven (11) dances: The Egg; Blackness/Underworld; Obsess; Turned Away; Illusion – Is Anyone Out There?;  Yield – Twisted Minds; Offering; Monster Within; Virtue Exposed; Whiteness – Transcendence; Panspermia – Seeding the Universe.

Dancers were cast for specific sections (solo and group works).
One dancer was  identified to wear the “headset” for each section of Mind Fluctuations.
