1984, 1985, 1986  Maida Withers created and directed with George Washington University partnership, two-week Dance Direction Festivals in June – Dorothy Betts  Marvin Theatre.   Each summer, ten Washington choreographers or companies were invited to collaborate with Maida Withers and George Washington University, producers, to participate /perform in a festival of dance intended to bring artists in Washington, DC into working relationships and to share and  develop audiences in the nation’s capital city.
