Orbit (Film Short – 3:31)

Original Performance on April 29, 1990

1990 – Orbit, an intriguing duet danced by Greg Simione and Eddie Taketa, filmed during the early period framed by the HIV and AIDS crisis.  The film is an excerpt, conceptually and in form, from the evening-length stage work, Obsession, America’s Obsession With Sex (1987).  Love of men for each other is the opening segment in the dance.  Music created and performed for Orbit by William Christie.  This  film duet is a very short version of a longer dance in the stage work that continues the powerful ending of sorrow for death related to the Aids crisis:  http://vimeo.com/8054192/

What the press is saying

"The dynamic between two dancers is beautifully captured by a camera that weaves around their bodies. A brief and sensuous video about movement and imagery." Washington Showcase
