Joseph Mills (dancer) was a member of the dance faculty at GW for the past five years and is currently teaching at Northwestern University. He performed with MOMIX Dance Theatre for three years and was a member of the Erick Hawkins Dance Company for five years. He has been Guest Artist with MOMIX Dance Theatre, Mark Dendy Dance/Theatre Company and The Maida Withers Dance Construction Company, and for the past five years, has been a featured performer in the D.C. International Dance Improvisation Festival. He received his Ph.D. from Temple University and completed certification in Laban Movement Studies, a philosophical and systematized method/approach for examining the human movement. His research and interest in consciousness studies and science as they are related to dance are incorporated into his teaching and choreographic work.
